Anyone getting excited? I am looking forward to this years games. The alpine competitions, especially the downhill and super G are exciting to watch, as well as the nordic events. Bobsled, snowboarding and figure skating...all great TV watching! The hockey will also garner a lot of attention, as its the first time since the 90's that we don't have the best players on the planet participating...thoughts?

Without the best players in the NHL playing, I'll have very little interest in it

I haven't seen any Olympics in probably 20 years. Not sure why. I don't dislike them or anything, I just never seem to tune into them

I competed in biathlon against the National team ever year and the Olympic team during the 80s. I was a huge winter Olympic fan, but when they started allowing the professional sports people in, I was done with it.:( I have not watched the summer or winter versions for well over 20 years.

I like the winter games more than the summer ones. Should be good.

Gotta love watching a bunch of crazy Nordic guys bombing down an ice covered mountain at around 800 MPH. Bring it on and ring those cowbells!

Another vote for the winter games being my favorite.

Love the avatar Steve. Gotta love "The Don".

Two weeks of nonstop figure skating? No thanks.

o_O The winter Olympics are so much more than just figure skating....? Expand your horizon a bit. If you chose not to....well then, your loss.;)

Yes, the Olympics are more than just figure skating. All that will be shown on television, though, will be figure skating. Again, no thanks.

It would be great if we could actually watch them. Just broadcast the events in real time. I don't need up close and personal, and cutting away from the action to show the end of it two hours later, and commentary and butt kissing and non stop ads. Just show the events. But that won't happen, at least in the USA.

For some reason my tiny town of two thousand has produced several Olympians (biathlon, bobsled), a coach, and the guy I buy my horse hay from is the snow guru who makes the courses.

I am quite possibly the most non-sporting person on the planet. Three day old babies tend to have more interest in and aptitude for sports than me. Anyone who has ever seen Moss in the football (soccer) spectator scene on The IT Crowd has essentially seen me. I only found out yesterday that the winter olympics are on soon, and across the ditch apparently (which these days means South Korea, not Ozlandia).

Having said all that, I still hope New Zealand wins the rugby…

There's a few aussies at the top level in several events.....we'll have saturation coverage of most events...

free to air has a dedicated channel that will run all day/night....the time zone should be friendly to us for good viewing of live events without sitting up in the middle of the night to watch.... prime time viewing...
