Pretty simple idea, but I haven't been able to find anything similar posted here.

I was reading a thread where people were lamenting dropping tools on their teles and dinging them up by accident.

So, I took a piece of toolbox drawer liner and made this up in about 5 minutes. Sort of looks like I made it in 3 minutes, so I figure if I can spend 20 minutes making it more precise, it will look like I made it in 16 minutes.

Anyway, simple enough, it stays in place and you can safely lay or even drop tools on it without marring the guitar's finish. Going to make one from cork as well, as I'm not sure how this will affect nitro finishes.

Careful... once Dan Erlewine sees this thread, those will show up on StewMac for $99.98 + shipping.

Should also help to reduce radar and sonar returns, increasing stealth....once the Pentagon sees this it will likely be valued at $500 billion.

Just don't lay a sheet of that stuff on the guitar and cut it by pressing down really hard with a utility knife <grin>.

    now you tell me!

The cork idea is not working out, it's too crumbly, needs some sort of backing, which would then make it too thick to be practical.

You could just wrap the whole thing in latex and call it good.

I think many years ago, Fender noticed that their finishes got dinged up from a variety of incidents... and began wrapping their guitar bodies in a really durable finish.
..... and then all this nostalgic whining commenced....

You could glue that to the guitar and it would stop all those dings against the mic stand while you're playing.

You should order a set of Kirn templates to make it out of. They'll be perfect.

Yeah, I could do that, would be pricey though, I just need one good. I'm looking into Silicone kitchen counter mat to make v. 2.0 out of. This one works fine, but I think the silicone mat will be more durable and it will have more weight so it will lay nice and flat.
